Melvin Gordon becomes Chargers’ first 1,000-yard rusher since 2013

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Melvin Gordon finally got his milestone.
A year ago, the Chargers running back finished three yards shy of 1,000 rushing yards. He felt healthy enough to reach the finish line, but the team shut him down for the final three games to avoid aggravating his knee and hip injuries. That decision, Gordon admitted recently, “bothered me a lot.”
He doesn’t have to worry about it anymore. Drafted No. 15 overall in 2015, the 6-foot-1, 215-pounder rushed for
