Master Gardener: How to get a hoya to bloom

Q: I have a hoya house plant that was in bloom when I purchased it several years ago, but it has never bloomed again. I’ve grown it alongside my other houseplants and given it good care.  What could be its problem?
A: The two most common hoya plant species are the pink-flowered Hoya carnosa and Hoya bella, which has white flowers with a purple center. Both are vining house plants and have thick, fleshy leaves. Although they are tropical in origin, they may be grown outs
