Master gardener: Decorative gourds are surprisingly easy to grow
Question: I’d like to try my hand at growing the small gourds I normally purchase in the fall for decoration. Are they hard to grow? When should I plant the seeds and how much space will they need?
Answer: I think you will be quite successful, as gourds are one of the easiest plants I’ve ever grown. Gourds are a warm-season crop and are best started by seed when the soil has warmed sufficiently (usually by mid-May).
