Marina del Rey man rescued on Mount Baldy

A San Bernardino County sheriff’s aviation crew rescued a man who became trapped in a steep canyon at Mount Baldy on Sunday afternoon.
Michael Patchen, 48, of Marina del Rey, hiked up Falls Road from Manker Flats about 9 a.m. He hiked to Baldy Notch, then proceeded to Mount Baldy Summit by taking the Devil’s Backbone trail, reaching the summit about noon, according to a sheriff’s press release.
