Long slump forcing Kike’ Hernandez to ’embrace the grind’

PITTSBURGH – This isn’t exactly how Kike’ Hernandez’s dream job was supposed to go.
After an extended apprenticeship in a utility role, Hernandez finally started this season with an every-day position as the Dodgers’ primary second baseman. While his defense at second has been exceptional, he has dipped into a deep slump offensively.
“Not swinging at strikes. Ball not falling for hits,” Hernandez summarized. “That’s a bad combination.”
