Long Beach Unified closes schools effective Monday, will resume classes April 20

The Long Beach Unified School District is closing schools starting Monday, March 16 and will resume classes April 20, officials announced Friday, March 13.
“The closure is an extra measure of protection to help prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, or COVID-19,” a message on the district’s website said. “We do not have any presumptive or confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in our schools, but we are taking this step to help protect public health.”
