Long Beach State beats UC Riverside in overtime with late free throws

RIVERSIDE — It didn’t seem to matter that Saturday night’s Big West Conference duel at UC Riverside was a battle for seventh place.
Visiting Long Beach State fought the Highlanders for the entire 40 minutes, and then some in the 49ers’ 71-67 overtime triumph, a game decided by free throws.
