Little progress in grocery contract negotiations; talks continue
Three days of talks between supermarket executives and union negotiators did not lead to an agreement, but the two sides have agreed to keep talking.
Executives from Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons and Pavillion stores have been in contract talks with the seven United Food and Commercial Workers locals for more than four months. Two weeks ago union members, by a 96% margin, voted to authorize its leaders to call a strike if they think it is necessary.
