Lawmakers should hold off on costly Medi-Cal expansion

Legislation has been introduced in Sacramento to extend full Medi-Cal benefits to all California residents who meet the income and residency requirements, regardless of age or immigration status.
Assembly Bill 4 is more expansive than legislation proposed last year which would have made income-qualified undocumented immigrants eligible for full Medi-Cal benefits through age 25. Like last year’s proposal, this one should be shelved.
