Lake Forest pastor’s son sentenced for molesting two girls

The son of a former Lake Forest church pastor was sentenced Friday to 45 years to life in prison for molesting two girls whose families he befriended through his father’s congregation.
Branden Edward Shumate, 39, of Hawaii, was found guilty Feb. 8, 2016, of three felony counts of lewd acts on a child younger than 14.
Jurors also found true a sentence-enhancing allegation of multiple victims, according to Deputy District Attorney Kristin Bracic.
