Laguna Beach’s eucalyptus trees could be lost in plan to ‘refresh’ downtown areas

Yellow ribbons wrapped around dozens of eucalyptus in downtown Laguna Beach have raised a red flag for some residents, who are rallying support to save the trees planted by the town’s homesteaders.
On Tuesday, Feb. 25, the Laguna Beach City Council is expected to consider spending $1.6 million to refresh downtown areas along Forest Avenue and Broadway Street, a plan that could include removing some or all of the trees.
