Kings select forward Rasmus Kupari in 1st round

EL SEGUNDO — Knowing they need to improve their offense did not automatically mean the Kings were going to take a forward in the first round of the NHL draft. But they did.
Picking No. 20 at the draft in Dallas on Friday, the Kings selected forward Rasmus Kupari of Finland.
Kupari, 18, is looked upon as a fast skater with good puck-handling skills and a quick release on a hard shot.
Rounds 2 through 7 will be held Saturday.
