Joshua Tree couple whose kids lived in large box won’t face felony charges

The felony child abuse charges against the Joshua Tree couple accused of forcing their children to live in a large plywood box in the open desert were dropped Wednesday, May 2, and new misdemeanor charges were filed.
Additionally, San Bernardino County prosecutors filed a motion to lift the criminal protective order that barred Mona Lisa Kirk and Daniel Panico from contacting their three children.
