Jim Abbott helping Newport Beach library with anniversary celebration

Newport Beach is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Central Library’s opening with a week of events, including a visit at 7 p.m. on July 11 by former Angel’s pitcher Jim Abbott.
Abbott, a Newport Beach resident, is the author of “Imperfect: An Improbable Life.”
Along with Abbott’s appearance, the library will be celebrating the folks who helped make the library an initial success.
The event is free, but seating is first-come.
