Irvine graduate Gabe Cota becomes Vaqueros varsity baseball coach

Irvine officials took the interim label off Gabe Cota’s title and this week made him the new varsity baseball coach.
Cota, 30, was named to succeed Ryan Brucker on Wednesday, Aug. 3, by Irvine Athletic Director John Phillips. Cota had been named the interim coach in June after  Brucker was selected head coach at Woodbridge.
“We look forward to him managing the program as the coach in charge,” Phillips said. of Cota.
