Huntington Beach waters declared safe after boy bumped by shark

HUNTINGTON BEACH – Officials labeled the waters of Huntington Beach safe on Saturday, Aug. 25 after a 14-year-old boy was bumped, but not hurt, by a shark the previous day about 25 feet offshore.
The incident occurred at about 8 p.m. Friday in about four feet of water, said Lt. Claude Panis of the Huntington Beach Fire Department’s Marine Safety Division.
The beach was closed by 10 p.m. Friday, Panis said.
