Howard Schultz’s exit and President Trump’s re-election prospects

On Friday, former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz announced that he has decided not to run for president as an independent in 2020.
“If I went forward, there is a risk that my name would appear on ballots even if a moderate Democrat wins the nomination, and that is not a risk I am willing to take,” Schultz wrote in a statement on his website.
The risk he’s talking about, of course, is the chance that the anti-Trump vote will split and re-elect the president.
