At long last, Elgin in bronze.
That’s Elgin Baylor, of course. If being known by one name is a measure of superstardom – Ali, Babe, Wilt – then Elgin hasn’t needed a statue to certify his greatness from the day he arrived in 1958.
Nevertheless, it’s overdue with the unveiling set for April … 60 years later … finally correcting the tilt that saw four Lakers, two Kings, Oscar De La Hoya and Chick Hearn honored before him.
