Grocery prices jump 4.2%, biggest LA-Orange County increase since 2011

The cost of buying groceries in May rose at the fastest inflation rate in nine years.
Coronavirus-related business limitations slashed the number of meals eaten out and made visits to grocery stores far more frequent for many households. That created shortages of some basic goods and cut any discounting at the grocery store.
The Consumer Price Index for Los Angeles and Orange counties shows the cost of groceries rising at 4.2% annual pace last month. For all of 2019, grocery inflation was 0.7% a
