Germany’s Francesco Friedrich looks to sweep Olympic bobsled golds

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea — Francesco Friedrich’s bobsled got off to an interesting start.
In his World Cup debut in a January 2012 two-man race in St. Moritz, Switzerland, his brakeman Jannis Backer slipped at the start and was unable to get in the sled. Friedrich finished the race by himself.
In the years since, German push athletes have made sure they hitch a ride with Friedrich.
