Gelson’s in the fold with tentative union contract

A long season of union negotiations within the region’s supermarket industry got closer to ending Monday when a tentative agreement was announced with Gelson’s, a union leader said Monday, Oct. 7.
The deal with Encino-based Gelson’s, with 27 locations from San Diego to Santa Barbara, will be voted on by union members next week. The company has about 2,500 employees, a spokesperson said.
About 46,000 United Food and Commercial Union workers at Vons, Ralphs, Albertsons and Pavili
