Frumpy Middle-aged Mom: Got stubborn kids who won’t listen? I’m so sorry

I know this has never happened to any of you, but I raised a pair of kids who are so hard-headed that trying to advise them on their life journeys is like shouting into a wind tunnel.
In fact, now that my kids are in their early twenties, I might as well just silently beat my head repeatedly against a concrete wall, because it would be easier and more fun.
My friend who’s been through this transition warned me awhile ago that the day would come when I’d have to shift my power base fr
