Former CIF-SS commissioner Dean Crowley dies

Former CIF-Southern Section commissioner Dean Crowley died Friday from pneumonia and complications related to cancer. He was 85.
Crowley was CIF-SS commissioner from 1993-99. He also was an NCAA football official and worked several bowl games including the Freedom Bowl.
Crowley was a school teacher, a sergeant in the Army Military Police in Germany, and at Gahr High School in Cerritos was a coach, athletic director and vice principal.
He joined the CIF-SS as an assistant commissioner in 1976.
