First Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar starting to take shape

 
Gun Runner and Arrogate, ranked 1-2 in the latest National Thoroughbred Racing Association’s top 10, headline the 187 pre-entries announced Wednesday for the 34th Breeders’ Cup World Championships that will be held at Del Mar for the first time.
The two-day event, which includes 13 Grade I races worth $26.5 million in purses, is highlighted by the $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic that will be run Saturday, Nov. 4. Arrogate is the defending champion.
