Fireworks thrown into street at Santa Ana protest
As Santa Ana’s 10 p.m. curfew arrived Saturday, a crowd that reached more than 300 protesters earlier in the evening had dwindled to about 50, with some throwing fireworks into the street.
A police helicopter hovered above the intersection of 17th and Bristol streets, while patrol cars blocked access in all directions leading to that intersection.
The demonstrators first gathered at the busy intersection at the edge of Santa Ana College at 8 p.m. to protest the death of George Floyd.
