Firefighter sounds ‘mayday’ alert as Thomas fire rages

A firefighter has sounded a “mayday” alert while working the Thomas Fire, the Ventura County Fire Department confirmed Thursday.
“I don’t have any update other than what I heard,” said Ventura County Fire Department Capt. Garo Kuredjian on Thursday. He had no information on the firefighter’s condition, what happened, what injuries were sustained or “where he went.”
