Fire damages 2-story duplex in Costa Mesa

COSTA MESA — A fire Tuesday night damaged one-half of a duplex but was kept from spreading to the adjacent unit, authorities said.
Firefighters were dispatched to the 300 block of Avocado Street at about 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, Costa Mesa Fire Capt. Chris Coates said.
The fire was put out within 20 minutes of arrival and 20 firefighters were on the scene, he said.
