Fill-in starter Gallego guides Edison past Canyon with efficient effort

ORANGE – Making your first start at quarterback at the varsity level is no easy task.
It is even harder when your primary position is wide receiver, but Mateo Gallego stepped in for injured starter Griffin O’Connor and led Edison to a 38-0 victory over Canyon on Friday night at El Modena High.
Gallego threw for 146 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for a score while Jack Carmichael ran for 101 yards and a touchdown, with the majority of his yards coming in the first half.
