Ducks need another second-half surge to reach playoffs

BOSTON — It was time to return to the ice Monday, and that for the Ducks meant a late afternoon workout at TD Garden after a cross-country flight.
Those who approved the computer-generated NHL schedule didn’t make it easy on them after a restful All-Star break. To top it off, the Ducks open a five-game eastern road trip against a Boston Bruins team that is the league’s hottest.
“There are a few games to be played here, and there’s points available,” Ducks coac
