ARCADIA — The day didn’t get off to a rousing start for trainer Bob Baffert and his wife, Jill, but it sure ended with a bang.
It began badly for Jill when a horse she owns, The Man, finished up the track as the 8-5 favorite in the $100,000 Lyman Stakes at Parx Racing in Pennsylvania.
Then, about 30 minutes later, the Baffert-trained Plein Air, the 4-5 favorite, finished fifth in the $100,345 Grade III Santa Barbara Stakes at Santa Anita.
