Dolphin stranded at Salt Creek Beach dies despite rescue attempt

A dolphin that washed ashore at Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point on Monday, July 29, died despite rescue attempts to save the young marine mammal.
The dolphin was seen stranded at about 7:30 a.m. Beachgoers and lifeguards attempted to pull it back into the ocean, but it continued to wash back on shore. Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach was then alerted and responded, said PMMC spokeswoman Krysta Higuchi.
