Dodgers’ Hyun-Jin Ryu could become an All-Star at opportune time

PITTSBURGH — Hyun-Jin Ryu is setting himself up for a much more complicated decision next winter.
Following the 2018 season, Ryu became a free agent. But the left-hander never made it to the open market. When the Dodgers made him the qualifying offer – securing draft-pick compensation if he signed with another team – Ryu did what only a small percentage of players in that position have done. He took it.
