Do U.S. mail carriers get cut any slack on driving laws?

Q. I have seen U.S. Postal Service trucks parked in red-curb zones. Do the mail carriers have to follow the same laws as the rest of us, or do they get cut slack?

A. Under the law, virtually no slack.
“Our employees are required to follow all city (laws) and California state driving regulations,” said Evelina Ramirez, a spokeswoman with the U.S. Postal Service. “If they get caught, that is their ticket, and their ticket to pay.”
