Deputy collides with big rig in Stanton

STANTON — An Orange County sheriff’s deputy escaped serious injury Monday when his patrol car and a big rig collided in Stanton, authorities said.
The crash was just after midnight at Beach Boulevard and Katella Avenue, the California Highway Patrol said.
The deputy was taken to a hospital with a complaint of soreness from his vehicle’s airbag deployment, sheriff’s Lt. Ken Binning said. The big rig driver was treated at the scene.
