Deadheading in the winter keeps the garden healthy

1. Rose leaves that remain on the plants through winter often succumb to troublesome diseases, such as the powdery-orange rose rust fungus. The diseases start earlier in the season then spread to infect newer leaves and other plants (such as lawn grasses). So if you haven’t pruned your roses, do so this weekend.
