CSUF students’ reports from U.S.-Mexico border earn awards, jobs for grads

Last fall, Cal State Fullerton communications lecturer Jesús Ayala took 10 students to Tijuana and San Diego for four days to report on a number of topics, including migrants seeking asylum, deported veterans, separated families and high-tech child-sex exploitation.
The project, part of Ayala’s first “Reporting About Minorities of the Southern Border” class, was designed to get the students out of the classroom and into real-life situations.
