CSUF composer pours lifetime of passions, concerns into her most ambitious work

Composer Pamela Madsen’s path in life was influenced by events that happened long before she was born.
“My father was trained as a concert pianist. He became deaf during World War II, but he continued to play every day. He developed his sense of vibration as a way of ‘hearing’ the notes,” said Madsen, a professor of music at California State Fullerton whose massive, multipart work, “Oratorio for the Earth,” will make an extended debut in several concerts
