Coronavirus chill: LA-Orange County inflation takes biggest fall since 2008 meltdown
Inflation in Los Angeles and Orange counties in March fell by the largest amount since the Great Recession.
The local Consumer Price Index rose at a 1.9% annual pace in March. That’s down from 3.4% in February, a 14-month high. The 1.5 percentage-point, one-month drop was the largest slowdown in the local inflation rate since November 2008 when a global financial meltdown was crushing the economy.
