Concern for Dana Point, as big surf threatens to further erode beach this week

Officials and concerned residents will be watching an area of Capistrano Beach after a moderate swell hit a few weeks ago and crumbled a wooden walkway and seawall that bordered a popular basketball court.
This week’s swell, combined with a winter high tide each morning of about 6 feet — and nearly 7 feet by the weekend — will cause strong surf to slam the already-damaged area.
