CIF-SS Council to vote on ‘dead period’ proposal

A proposal that would fix the summer dead period toward a more specific period is on the agenda when the CIF-Southern Section Council, the organization’s legislative body, meets Wednesday morning at The Grand conference and meeting facility in Long Beach.
Currently high school sports teams must have a three-week summer dead period than be taken any time between the end of school or the last Friday in May, whichever comes first, and the last Monday in August. They must be consecutive weeks.
