Chargers owner Alex Spanos dies at 95

Alex Spanos, the patriach of the Spanos family and longtime owner of the Chargers franchise, has died. He was 95.
The team announced Spanos’ death on Tuesday, just two months after his wife and Spanos family matriach, Faye, died at 92.
A construction magnate and founder of the A.G. Spanos Construction Company, Alex Spanos purchased the Chargers in 1984 and ran day-to-day operations of the team through its first and only Super Bowl appearance in 1994.
