‘Calm’ Cal Petersen a pleasant surprise for Kings

LOS ANGELES — It was hard to guess how Cal Petersen might play in goal for the Kings when he was recalled from the Ontario Reign of the AHL on Nov. 12.
Petersen had a good season at Ontario in 2017-18, with a goals-against-average of 2.58 in 41 games. He was at 4.29 in 10 games this season before his recall, but Ontario struggled and a goalie’s numbers are often inflated under those circumstances.
