Breeders’ Cup: Bricks and Mortar triumphs in Turf

ARCADIA — Bricks and Mortar outlasted 50-1 longshot United to the wire, winning the $4 million Breeders’ Cup Turf by a head and perhaps laying claim to Horse of the Year.
Bricks and Mortar gave jockey Irad Ortiz and trainer Chad Brown their third Breeders’ Cup victories of the weekend as the winner made it six for six in 2019, including five Grade I stakes.
Final time for the 1 1/2 miles was 2:24.73.
