Bishop Amat gets big effort from Jacob Vargas in first-round win over El Dorado

LA PUENTE — If Bishop Amat has a chance to make a run in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs and get back to the semifinals like it did a year go, it will need more performances like the one it got from junior pitcher Jacob Vargas.
Vargas battled out of couple jams and was clutch when he needed to be throwing six shutout innings and allowing just four hits in Bishop Amat’s 7-0 victory over visiting El Dorado in the first round of the playoffs on  Thursday.
