Big West basketball: UC Riverside’s David Patrick learning through trial and error as first-time head coach

UC Riverside is undergoing what you might call a transition season.
At 6-12 overall and 0-2 in Big West Conference play, the Highlanders aren’t turning many heads. But it’s Riverside’s first season under head coach David Patrick, who was hired following a two-year stint as an assistant at TCU and four years at LSU.
So the Highlanders are going through some growing pains, learning what the coach expects from them as he learns what their strengths and weaknesses as a roster are.
