Angels’ Zack Cozart: ‘bullpenning’ is way for teams to save money

TORONTO — Two days after Zack Cozart said that the practice of using a reliever to start a game was bad for baseball, the Angels third baseman expanded on his thoughts.
To be more precise, he said it’s bad for pitchers’ bank accounts.
“I feel like teams have an ulterior motive when they are doing this,” Cozart said before the Angels’ game on Tuesday night. “Less starting pitching means you don’t have to pay guys as much.”
