Analysis: Chargers used NFL draft to make a good defense better
Last year’s Chargers were anchored by their defense, one that ranked top-three against the pass and on the scoreboard. This past weekend, the franchise doubled down on making that unit even better.
After leading off last year’s draft with three picks on offense, the Chargers flipped the other way in 2018 — using four straight selections to give defensive coordinator Gus Bradley at least one immediate starter, plus three rookies who could have important roles in the rotation.
