Ambulance strikes pedestrian in Costa Mesa

A Huntington Beach ambulance transporting a patient to a Newport Beach hospital struck a pedestrian in Costa Mesa early Sunday.
The ambulance, heading to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian at about 4:05 a.m., was going south through the intersection of Newport Boulevard and 19th Street on a green light when it hit a man crossing the street outside a crosswalk, said Roxi Fyad, spokeswoman for the Costa Mesa Police Department.
