Aliso Viejo mayor launches bid for O.C. sheriff

Aliso Viejo Mayor Dave Harrington has announced his bid for O.C. sheriff.
The announcement comes more than a week after Sheriff Sandra Hutchens, who was appointed to her position in 2008, said she would step down at the end of her term next year. Hutchens has endorsed county Undersheriff Don Barnes for the position.
Harrington, who has served on the Aliso Viejo City Council since 2014, spent 28 years in law enforcement before running for local office.
