Alexander: Remembering the L.A. Rams’ unlikely first Super Bowl

The last Los Angeles Rams team to play in a Super Bowl was about as unlikely an entrant as one could imagine, buffeted by turbulence on and off the field but staying upright almost to the end. By the evening of January 20, 1980, the players involved were convinced that not only could they have toppled the dynasty of the time, but that they’d be back on the big stage soon.
That only reinforces the idea that it’s folly to assume.
